HB Hot Rods and Hogs was started by Ed Syer in the back of his auto repair shop in Huntington Beach where Ed was building custom race engines for cars and bikes since the 1980’s. Ed’s passion for motorcycles started as a young boy when his father bought him his first mini bike at the age of four. His passion continued to motocross, evolving to his first professional drag racing license in 1994 NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) Super Gas & Super Comp Racing. Ed has been racing in the AHDRA (All Harley Drag Racing Association) series since 2006.
Ed’s racing expertise, combined with over 100 years of cumulative maintenance and performance experience from his team, drove many racing aspirants to his shop. Most were looking to increase the performance of their rides or wanting to take on ambitious customization projects. This meant that Ed had to take on projects that take a long time to complete (and therefore a long time to get paid), while having to pay for parts and for his team all along the project. He needed a working capital solution that would give him the cash he needed upfront but also gave him the flexibility he to have lower payments when racing season ended.
Merchant Capital Source gave HB Hot Rods and Hogs its first Cash Advance in 2008 and it was just what the business needed. HB Hot Rods and Hogs has been returning to MCS every year since then. Sometimes even twice a year when the shop gets overly busy. Moreover, Ed’s relationship with MCS has grown together with his business. HB Hot Rods and Hogs is now able to access ten times more funds as it did the first time around and at more attractive terms.
The Cash Advance from Merchant Capital Source has helped Ed manage his cashflow easily and worry free. Which has allowed him to grow his business and to focus on his latest racing project: The Rail Dragster Project.
